November 27, 2007

We have two kinds of events. Our group hosts conversational outings for native, intermediate and advanced Swedish speakers.

We also hold study sessions for beginners will be able to study, do vocabulary review and so on in an unstructured, but social manner.

This group used to be pan-Scandinavian, but has converted into a Swedish only group--new groups were created for the other languages.

Want to attend?

Conducted in English, we study using "Teach Yourself Swedish" by Vera Crogan.

Spare books available.

What chapter we do depends on who attends. In the world of meetups, one never knows. That said, if we have mostly beginners we'll do something in chapter 1-3. If everyone is beyond that, we'll do a chapter from the middle of the book. If that is still too easy, we'll read articles from 8 Sidor. Read more

“I studied Swedish a few years ago but I didn't practice it, so I'm back to almost zero. Hearing others speak Swedish and speaking it myself will be helpful to re-learn it.”

“I've got Swedish-Norwegian roots and while searching for groups on meetup, found this one. Alas, it's 1000 miles away. But I did grow up in the DC area and get home from time to time. Would be fun to meet up with you some time.”
